3 Weeks On!

Oh where has my plumber gone?!! 3 weeks ago my plumber told me he had a 2 week job on & would come back to me with a quote for all the plumbing in the cottage.
I've not heard a thing from him, mind you i haven't tried contacting him. It's a little difficult still as the sale of the barn across the road, of which i am a part owner, still hasn't gone through. Why does everything take sooooo... long. I can't do anything until i see some 'green notes' in my bank account. Meanwhile, the joiner is waiting in the background for the 'go ahead'. How long can i keep putting him off?! I keep saying "just another week or 2, then we can get going". 2 weeks will have passed by the end of the week.

I have been making enquiries about log burning stoves & had a quote for the building work which needs doing in order to have one. It's going to cost £700 on top of the actual stove plus other 'bits n pieces'. I have no idea whether i have to have a chimney liner. I guess that's a question for the log burning retailer.

The cost of renovation this small cottage escalates daily & already our budget is looking meagre.
I fully understand why people find it so hard to keep to budget.

So, as you can see, nothing has happened & i'm getting frustrated.

Things have slowed down

I know, it's been a long time since i updated my blog but nothing of interest has really happened!
I've been getting advice on heating & i'm getting conflicting views!!
After much thought, but still no costs in yet i'm pretty sure we are going to go with electric heating but a log burning stove in the lounge would be great for those long cold winter nights. I thought this best if we are trying to let it all year round. I'm not a big fan on the idea of electric heating but this will bring the costs down tremendously. However, electric prices aren't that cheap at the moment!
I'm still waiting for a quote from the plumber (2 weeks now) but i know he has a big job on at the moment!

The picture above is the lounge as it looks now with the 1960's coal fireplace. I am proposing to take this out & replace with a log burning stove, if it's not toooo.. expensive! I could probably sell it on ebay with my other items!!
