Water!

Yesterday i went to see the Environmental Health Officer in skipton to enquire about registering our house as a Bed & Breakfast. I decided we were ready to start on the main house if not the cottage.
However, due to living in a village with private water supply, we have to meet 'EU regulations' regarding the quality of the water. Our water does not 'come up to scratch' currently & we would need to invest in a filtering system of some kind. sounds expensive!
I now need to talk to water experts. The requirements will be the same for the cottage, so at least by the time that's underway, i will have done the necessary research.

Holiday cottage or Bed & Breakfast?

So, while nothing has actually happened at the cottage re renovation, my husband & i have been weighing up the pros & cons of the above.
We recently had paying house guests from the local tennis club which gave us an idea to start up a B&B. We've been doing a load of research to see if there is a demand for any of the alternatives.
I don't know what conclusion we came to but it will all come down to the marketing of the accomodation.
Firstly, i need to improve my breakfast making skills! Terry is going to enjoy that part of the research i'm sure!

Update?, what update!

Well,how long's it been since i started this site? The project should be well on its way by now, but we still have no money to start proceedings!
We had a guy from the electric company based in Germany, over a few weeks ago & he was very helpful with my 'issues' i have with electric & he went away saying he wouldn't hound me for an order. I explained that certain criteria had to be met 1st before ordering the heating, like: get some money in the bank & buy the cottage! Minor detail!
Unfortunately, time is moving on & summer is drawing to an end. Fortunately, most of the work is being done inside, except the renewal of all the windows!
My hands are tied as far as geting anything started. Hopefully i have used thes few months wisely to get quotes in but my interest is dwindling by the day!
